A series that focuses on womanhood in masculine spaces, examining the voluntary female military service in Finland, aiming to offer a personal intimate glimpse into the world of women in the service. Finland is one of the only countries left in Europe that still holds mandatory military service for men - yet the number of women who choose to volunteer alongside the conscripted men rises yearly.

This project shares a unique glimpse of their time in service via images taken by them on their phones, displayed alongside these portraits taken by me documenting the everyday at military bases.
